About

Aidan McCarthy is a bassist and composer hailing from Oakland, California. An impassioned musician of ecletic interests, Aidan plays a wide range of musical styles on the acoustic and electric bass. Growing up amidst the vibrant musical landscape of the Bay Area, Aidan cut his teeth on the local scene in his youth, ultimately gaining admittance to nationally acclaimed jazz programs such as Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz Band and the Vail Summer Jazz Workshop. Aidan spent a year studying with John Clayton, the great bassist, composer, and pedagogue following Aidan’s participation in the Vail Summer Jazz Workshop. Aidan has performed professionally since his early teen years, performing with notable luminaries such as Miguel Zenon, Brian Lynch, Ingrid Jensen, Etienne Charles, Sean Jones, Carl Allen, Kemuel Roig, Faye Carol, etc. He has appeared at Bay Area venues such as Yoshi’s, SFJAZZ, Club Deluxe, The Soundroom, The Back Room, The California Jazz Conservatory, etc. Nationally, Aidan has appeared at Birdland and Dizzy’s Club Cola in New York City, Boxley’s Jazz Club in Seattle, The Faena Theater in Miami Florida, and Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, etc.Aidan is currently attending the University of Miami, where he is pursuing a degree in media scoring and production and a minor in French language studies. At the University of Miami, he is a member of the esteemed Stamps Jazz Quintet. Aidan is a part of a folk adjacent indie rock band called Loveseat.
